Thread Forming Screws
Covered by ASME B18.6.4 1998 & SAE J81 1997 for Thread Rolling Fasteners. Thread forming tapping screws, also known as thread rolling screws, are generally for applications where large internal stresses are permissible, or desirable, to increase resistance to loosening.

APEX Fasteners provides a complete selection of thread cutting screw types to suit all requirements. Many different thread forming screws are available to lower assembly costs eliminating the need to drill and tap panels. These can be broadly categorized into thread forming screws for plastic and thread forming screws for metal.

Most fasteners can be provided with optional extras such as Sems versions, under the head nibs for locking or electrical conductivity, unrolled root diameter dog points, and partially threaded shanks for captivating in cover plates, or security drive systems.

Thread Forming Screws for Plastic

Thread forming screws were specifically designed for use in plastics to provide driving ease and improved holding power. Apex Fasteners offers a broad range of thread forming screws for plastic to provide the right part for every application from soft plastics to hard and from low to high vibration environments.

Apex offers the EJOT developed PT® and Delta PT® screws. Apex Fasteners offers the Trilobular™ family of products developed by REMINC for production orders. This includes Plastite® 48-2, Plastite® 45, and Pushtite® II all manufactured under license. Also developed by REMINC is the REMFORM®, REMFORM® II™, and REMFORM® II HS™ screws with their Unique Radius Flank™ Thread Form. Finally, Apex offers commercial Hi-Low screws.

Thread Forming Screws for Metal

Thread forming screws for metal offer a means to avoid bolt and nut assemblies, inserts, and other threaded solutions for light metal bosses. A pre-drilled hole allows the thread forming screw to hold assemblies without creating shavings which can occur with thread cutting screws.

Apex Fasteners offers the Trilobular™ family of products developed by REMINC for production orders. This includes the Taptite®, Taptite II®, Duo-Taptite®, Extrude-Tite®, Pushtite II®, Magtite® 2000, and Kleertite® screws, all manufactured under license. Apex also offers the REMFORM® "F" screw.
