Pins

Apex Fasteners has a broad variety of pins available for your applications in both metric and imperial sizes. Pins can serve as anchor points, fulcrums, connectors and spacers, among other uses. Our staff will work closely with you to determine the best fastener for your application.

Clevis Pins

A Clevis Pin is a cylindrical pin with a head at one end and one or more holes running through the diameter. A clevis pin is typically locked in place with a cotter pin to provide motion between components where great accuracy is not required. ASME B18.8.1

Cotter Pins

Cotter pins are intended for use with clevis pins and in pinned bolt and nut assemblies of other types of free-fitting pinned assemblies in general industrial applications. Cotter pins can be formed into a range of shapes such as hammerlock, chisel point, extended prong, even end, taper point and tee head. ASME B18.8.1

Dowel Pins

A Dowel Pin is a solid, typically cylindrical semi-permanent pin mainly used to locate machine parts in a fixed position or to maintain alignment. Dowel pins, also known as straight pins, are the most basic pins. Dowel pins derive their holding power from friction. They can be ribbed or hexagonal in shape to provide additional spin resistance. ASME B18.8.2

Groove Pins

Grooved or split along part of its length, a groove pin will slightly compress lengthwise and "bulge" near its groove to create a snug fit and resist pull-out.

Quick Release Pins

When inserted, an internal metal ball locks a quick-release pin in place. The ball is releasable by depressing an end-mounted plunger which frees it from its locked position. A typical use for such pins can be found on key rings where car keys can be released easily for use by a parking attendant or service person.

Self-Clinching Pins

When attached to a metal plate, self-clinching pins provide a stable, permanent attachment point.

Special Pins

Special materials, finishes and secondary operations are available. Please provide a print and/or your specifications and we will be happy to work with you to develop the right part for your application.

Spring Pins

Spring Pins are today's most universal, time saving and economical fasteners. Universal because they replace a wide variety of different fasteners. Timesaving because they can be installed in a single operation. Economical because they are made in one piece and are easily removable. Spring pins are manufactured to a precise diameter which is normally larger than the hole into which they are placed. During installation, the spring pin is compressed along its length to create the tension which holds it tightly in the hole. The thickness of a spring pin is indicative of its shear strength. Typically, spring pins come in two basic varieties, Slotted Spring Pins and Coiled Spring Pins.

Tapered Pins

A Taper Pin is a semi-permanent, cylindrical pin that has a slight taper along its length. Taper pins are often used on parts that require frequent assembly and disassembly. ASME B18.8.2
